๐Ÿ’–WHAT IS TCM?

Traditional Chinese Medicine. Itโ€™s Eastern Medicine and includes the modalities of the following: acupuncture, cupping (suction method), raw herbal formulas as medicine, gua sha (scraping method), moxa (the burning of the famous herb Mugwort also known as Ai Ye) and Tui Na (Medical Massage).

๐Ÿ’–DOES THE ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLE METHOD HURT ?
No. Quick pinches. Needles are finer than hair. Patients feel dull achy or electrical impulses. These sensations are a good sign that the needles are doing their job. You should not feel sharp stabbing pain. You should feel comfortable on the bed. Please communicate to your practitioner if anything is uncomfortable at all so you can fully rest during your treatment.

๐Ÿ’–DOES THE CUPPING METHOD HURT?

It hurts so good. The pressure of the cups suctioning to your skin may be intense for some depending on sensitivities. You can communicate to your practitioner your personal pain threshold. There will be discoloration after the process as the cups leave โ€œHicky Marksโ€. The stagnated blood comes to the surface and recycles throughout your system. Cupping has many benefits such as circulation, qi and blood movement, and allows healthy and nutritive qi to surround the areas. The creation of the lymphatic drainage exists in this process causing happy healthy feelings and a more relaxed body.

๐Ÿ’–WHAT IS MOXA? HOW DO I USE IT?

Moxa is short for Moxabustion. It is a method of burning the herb Mugwort near your skin in order to move the blood. It is well known in the Eastern world for promoting long life, treating infertility, blood stagnation or cold in the body. It is famous for burning on point ST36 (upper calf) for long life and UB67 (located on pinky toe) for turning a breech baby.

๐Ÿ’–HOW LONG IS AN APPOINTMENT ?
60 minutes- 90 minutes, It depends on how much we review the health history but acupuncture takes a minimum of 25 minutes and cupping is a minimum of 5 minutes. We book and hour for each follow up appointment so patients have the ability to update the practitioner or simply want extra time to rest.

๐Ÿ’–SHOULD I EAT BEFORE AN APPOINTMENT?

Eat a light snack at least 45 minutes prior. Stay hydrated. We move a lot of blood so it can feel like a workout. Some people feel extremely relaxed. We encourage to drink tea before and after a treatment to stay internally warm. Please empty your bladder and bowels prior to your treatment.

๐Ÿ’–HOW DO I KNOW THESE METHODS WORK FOR ME?

Every person is different so we recommend to keep a journal of your progress. You will notice a difference in your following patterns: sleep, emotional balance, pain relief, thirst, urination, appetite and bowel movements.
